Browse through our resources for learning
Here at St Barbe we have lots of knowledge about the local area and love to pass this exciting information on in creative and imaginative ways.
Our learning programme has been developed especially for children to help them understand their local heritage and environment from the prehistoric to the present day. It involves a variety of activities to suit different learning styles, focusing on learning through enjoyment.
Designed by the Learning and Engagement Officer at St Barbe Museum, these activity packs are created to reach out to those who are unable to visit the museum in person but still wish to enjoy our cultural programme.
In order to do this, internal and external sources are used in a way that capture the attention of people with dementia and their families/carers but are accessible to all generations.
Inspiration is taken from the exhibitions and displays at St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery. We believe that art, heritage and culture are valuable tools that can be used to help develop a sense of wellbeing and to combat social and emotional isolation.
'One hands-on session in St Barbe Museum is worth a few hours spent in the classroom'
