Leaving a Legacy
How a gift in your Will can help St Barbe
Leaving St Barbe a gift in your Will provides not just future income for the Museum but also financial security – an incredible gift in itself.
Such a gift will give future generations, as well as our own, the money they need to continue to collect and care for collections, create displays and exhibitions that inform and entertain everyone in the community, and ensure young people grow up with the knowledge and interest they need to be guardians of the natural and cultural heritage of the New Forest Coast.
You can decide how St Barbe uses your legacy gift, but we ask that you consider helping us to create an endowment which will, over time, grow and produce income from interest to support St Barbe’s activities in perpetuity. Building this Future Fund will be our generation’s gift to those of the future.
The Heritage Lottery Fund has generously committed to match £ for £ any donation or legacy given to St Barbe’s Endowment Fund for the next 4 years (until 2021) up to a maximum of £250,000.
You could also choose to contribute to the Current Projects Fund, supporting a wide range of projects such as caring for our local history collections and activities to educate and inspire young people.
Leaving a gift in your Will to St Barbe needn’t be daunting. Whether you intend to write a Will for the first time, or wish to make an amendment to an existing Will, we always recommend speaking to a professional solicitor in the first instance.
However, if you would like to have an initial conversation with us about your thoughts, to discuss how St Barbe could use your gift, and the different ways in which we could recognise your generosity, please do get in touch. You are under no obligation to tell us about your plans, and of course you may change your mind if circumstances change, but nevertheless the knowledge that you are planning to leave a legacy to St Barbe is incredibly helpful.
For further information please read our downloadable Legacy Information Pack and a notification form. Alternatively please call 01590 676 969 to speak to Mark Tomlinson, Director of St Barbe, to discuss your thoughts further.
