Learning and Engagement
25 October 2019
In October we worked with the Town Council to run an event for Local Democracy Week, where we invited local schools to take part in a mock council meeting. Lymington Juniors and Our Lady and St Joseph Schools both brought along their school council and debated in the council chamber before visiting the museum to learn about the history of Lymington and its town council.
Wallhampton School came to learn about Smuggling, Lymington Infants had great fun exploring some old toys and we had lots of fun over the half term with families learning some interesting bat facts, creating some wonderful bat decorations and of course lots of wonderful entries for our Halloween themed St Barbe Bake Off competition.
We have also been running our St Bees Musical Adventures for under 5s which introduces families with young children to the museum through music, puppetry and sensory activities. It has so far been fully booked each week with people on the waiting list.
Next month we have three classes from Our Lady and St Joseph school coming to explore pre-historic life, experience living in Lymington in WWII and investigate how the Romans used the New Forest, along with an old toys outreach session at Durlston Court school too.
