Inspire Weekend Success
30 September 2019
The INSPIRE Weekend on 14 and 15 September went down a treat... the weather was amazing, we had wonderful music on the terrace, art workshops for all ages in the McCarthy room, Curator and Director talks, a master storyteller, and our very own smuggler on the streets of Lymington with the message ‘go to St Barbe and tell them the smuggler sent you’ - Good old Art England! Along with museum characters Ann St Barbe, Nelson boat builder and Lovey Warne. St Barbe had a real buzz about it.
Over the weekend we quadrupled the usual number of visitors to the museum with over 1000 people on Saturday and over 700 visitors on Sunday.
The weekend was all about opening our doors and enabling everyone in the community and further afield to come into St Barbe and explore all there is to offer. It may become a yearly event in the calender - INSPIRE Weekend 2020 here we come!
