Welcome to our new Director

Maria Ragan is heading the team at St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery as Director, hoping to build on the incredible success of the new building development and exciting exhibitions to expand and develop new audiences and opportunities for the Museum.
With years of experience working in museums including the British Museum, Horniman Museum and the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, UCL. She is also an executive committee of ICOM UK, a trainer, mentor and committee for the Touring Exhibitions Group, a trustee of the National Jazz Archive and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Maria says, “I’m especially interested in growing audiences, interpretation, exhibition and interactive development at St Barbe. As well as establishing facilities for visitors from all backgrounds and abilities and working with source communities on engaging and sustainable projects.”
Sir John de Trafford, Chairman of the Trustees at St Barbe welcomed Maria to St Barbe saying, “I am delighted that St Barbe has been able to attract someone of Maria’s experience and I am sure that we will be able to go from strength to strength with her as our new Director.”
